Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) is Cyber Security and Forensics at UALR

Motivated and talented students are invited to apply for paid summer research internships to gain hands-on experience in cyber security and forensics, in particular, the security and forensics problems in mobile computing, cloud computing, and social computing. This opportunity is open to only 10 students across the country.

Highlights:
- Eight week paid program (June 6 to July 29, tentative) - $4,000 stipend in total

Spring Internship Opportunities!


Virso, Inc.
Matt Meadows from Virso,Inc. will be speaking to students and accepting resumes for internships starting in January 2016 at Virso, Inc., a services provider for PTC products (www.ptc.com).  Their primary focus is supporting web-based product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.  They perform new installations, update, upgrades, scope and deploy new functionalities, etc.  We also get into customization using various web friendly languages: Java, JavaScript, JSP, and a few PTC proprietary scripting languages. HA&W, LLP

Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities: The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is one of Georgia’s four health agencies serving the state’s growing population of almost 10 million people. The Department is one of the largest agencies in Georgia state government responsible for a $13 billion budget. Serving as the lead agency for Medicaid and also overseeing the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP), Healthcare Facility Regulation and Health Information Technology in Georgia, DCH programs provide access to health care services for one in four Georgians.
Through effective planning, purchasing and oversight, DCH provides access to affordable, quality health care to millions of Georgians, including some of the state’s most vulnerable and underserved populations. Seven enterprise offices support the work of the agency’s four divisions. DCH’s 1,000 employees are based in Atlanta, Cordele and across the state.
DCH is currently seeking candidates for the position of Intern Undergraduate Programmer. The selected candidate designs, codes, tests, modifies and debugs computer software. Writes and analyzes programs of moderate complexity. Analyzes, researches, and resolves program or systems problems and develops program documentation. The Programmer will be part of the Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA) Program Management Office within the DCH Information Technology Department.


Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

Perform software development tasks and assist in the design and architecture of software applications individually or as a team member

       Review, analyze, and modifies programming systems to include coding, testing, debugging, installing, and documenting to support organization's software applications
       Implement software development process improvement activities in accordance with organizational goals and procedures
       Develop unit and integration tests and test plans for software applications; execute tests and prepare software test reports
       Analyze and study complex system requirements
       Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manage their implementation
       Software user interface design and usability
       Translate detailed design into computer software
       Prepare required software documentation, including both program- and user-level documentation
       Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency
       Provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools
       Implement and test software using industry standard techniques and methodologies and perform application testing and database development or web development


Entry Qualifications:
       Seeking a BS Degree in Computer Programming, Computer Science, or related field
       Work well both as a member of a team and independently
       Demonstrated communication skills both oral and written
       Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new programming languages, environments and techniques
       Should display a demonstrated aptitude for solving problems
       Proficient programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
       Familiarity with PHP, ASP.NET, JavaScript and JQuery
       Must be a currently enrolled sophomore, junior, or senior
       Must have a 2.75 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale and be in good academic standing.
       Must pass background check



Preferred Qualifications:
·       Understanding of web application security, session management, and best development practices.
·       Knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development.
·       Understanding of all phases of applications programming activities.
·       Experience creating web-based services.
